The Library at RAF Mildenhall provides a plethora of resources ranging from computer labs, CLEP study materials, books and more.
The latest bestselling books in fiction and non-fiction are available on our shelves. Music on compact disk and books on CD and MP3 are also available. Downloadable digital books can be virtually checked-out through the OverDrive program.
The library has a strong travel guide collection that is very popular with customers who use them to plan local sightseeing or their next foreign adventure. International languages can be studied with our books, CDs and DVDs, or through one of two online language programs, Mango and Transparent. Other DoD-funded programs enable us to purchase and check-out video games for the Wii, PS3 and XBOX, as well as newly released feature films, television series and documentaries, along with family-oriented and animated films.
The library has 11 public computers, with Internet access and CAC readers, and two scanners and free printing for up to 10 pages. The computers give access to the myriad of research databases, online reference tools, electronic books, and other digital programs, including Gale’s Books and Authors, Tutor.com, Universal Class, and Zinio E-Zines that customers can use for their academic, professional or recreational needs.
The library’s children’s programs run throughout the year including a weekly story time and coffee klatch for preschoolers and their parents. The program is on Wednesdays and includes music, dancing, a story and a craft time as well as coffee and tea for the parents and cookies for everyone. It’s a great way to meet and get to know other parents of young children. Details on these programs are always available in the current “Get Up and Go” magazine. The library is in Bldg 425, next to the Arts & Craft Center and across the street from TMO.
There’s so much more available to customers. Practice books and DVDs for CLEP and DANTES college class exemption testing are available in all subjects. Additionally, preparation books for the ASVAB, AFOQT and other tests can be borrowed. They also offer a quiet study room that many patrons use to study.
