The Child Development Center staff at Moody AFB provides full-time care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, of active duty military, Department of Defense civilians paid by either NAF or APF, reservists on active duty or during active duty training and Department of Defense Contractors. The CDC is accredited by the National Association of Education and Young Children and they provide high-quality early childhood programs in a safe and nurturing, home-like environment, while promoting the development and growth of children entrusted to their care.
The Moody CDC, in conjunction with Bright from the Start Department of Early Care and Learning, offers a pre-kindergarten program. Children who will be four years old by September 1 are eligible to participate in this program. Pre-K is offered to current patrons, then on a first-come, first-serve basis, and runs in conjunction with the Lowndes County School System. Pre-K hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Hourly care is offered when space is available. Parents can make reservations two weeks in advance up until the same day. If space is not available when you call, you will be placed on a waiting list and staff will notify you if space becomes available. Reservations are given on a first-come, first-serve basis. The fee is $5 an hour per child.
Another way we take care of our families is through the “Give Parents A Break” program, which brings together the Child Development Center, Youth Programs and the Air Force Aid Society. Child care is available in either program one Saturday per month from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Each program receives funding from the Air Force Aid Society. You must have a current referral and current immunizations. All other registration paperwork must be completed prior to reservations being made. Referrals can be obtained from your commander, first sergeant, family support center, base chaplain, medical group, youth programs or CDC employees. Reservations with completed paperwork must be made by noon the Thurs prior to care.
