The Family Member Employment Program provides military family members with the tools they need to successfully search for employment. The Family Member Employment Counselor is located in the Transition Assistance Program Office at both MCRD Parris Island (Bldg. 923) and MCAS Beaufort (Bldg. 807). Each office has a well-stocked library with books on careers, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and entrepreneurship. Both locations keep current job listings of local employment opportunities and offer classes specifically designed for military family members.
Classes include:
Resume Writing
This class covers everything you need to know to write a resume that will help land an interview. We’ll discuss types of resumes, and how to identify your skills, abilities and accomplishments and communicate them in a resume format.
Interviewing Skills
Once you’ve landed the interview, it’s time to land the job. This class will teach you how to answer common interview questions, as well as the difficult ones. We’ll deal with types of interviews, questions to ask the interviewer, and writing thank you notes.
Federal Employment Workshop
Navigating the civil service system can be a difficult task. This class will teach you how to apply for federal civil service jobs in the local area, and teach you the tricks you’ll need to get your resume past the initial screening.
Job Search Strategies
In this class, you’ll learn to understand the local business climate and organize your job search in a way that will lead to quick results.
Career Assessment
Get personalized interpretation access to thousand of occupations and lots of ideas for career building activities. Obtain a good picture of your interests, abilities, and work values.
