Located in the southwest section of Georgia known as Plantation Trace, Albany is approximately three hours south of Atlanta and resides in a belt of rich farmland in the East Gulf coastal plain on the banks of the Flint River. The climate in Albany is mild with temperatures during the summer months the 80s and average temperatures in the 40s during winter.

It has a long and storied past and today features a number of notable museums, monuments and registered historic places, including the Albany Civil Rights Movement Museum, the Royal Air Force Memorial and the Freedom Flame -- a tribute to "those whose sacrifice and valor in times of war have preserved and enhanced our legacy of liberty." It is also the birthplace of legendary singer, songwriter and pianist, Ray Charles.
Albany offers diverse and interesting attractions, such as as stunning golf courses, the Weatherbee Planetarium, Flint RiverQuarium, Albany Museum of Art, The Park at Chehaw (a 100-acre wild animal park) and the state's largest play park for kids. It's also the home of Radium Springs—one of the seven natural wonders of Georgia.
