The Legal Assistance Division of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate for the Military District of Washington is committed to providing quality legal assistance services to all eligible clients, including active duty/activated soldiers, military retirees, and military family members.
They provide client services for a variety of legal issues including family law, wills and estate planning, tax law, landlord/ tenant matters, contract disputes, and consumer law.

By Military Regulation attorneys are not authorized to provide representation in civilian courts. Also, professional responsibility regulations prohibit giving legal advice over the telephone, potential clients must come to the office for legal advice. Attorney referral list are available as needed.
Notary and Power of Attorney Services. The office is open for walk-in notary and power of attorney services from 0800 to 1200 and 1300 to 1600 Monday through Friday.

Wills and Estate Planning. Includes medical care powers of attorney, advanced medical directives, or living wills. Our office does not prepare living trusts. BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Call to schedule.
Family Law Issues (separation and divorce). WEDNESDAY afternoons at 1300. Please arrive 15 minutes early. The process includes a short briefing to the group of people attending the session. Individuals who attend the briefing may choose to consult with an attorney after the briefing. Call to schedule your session.
