FamCamp, located on Barksdale’s East Reservation, is a scenic, wooded wildlife managed area that provides a great venue for camping. Barksdale AFB is located inside the Shreveport/BossierCity metropolitan area which offers abundant shopping, entertainment, dining, and recreation. Fam Camp features 42 paved sites, 50/30/20 amp electrical hookups, sewer, water hookups and free WIFI. Primitive tent camping is also available if desired.
Recreational lodging is also available at FamCamp. Twelve fully furnished, 3 bedroom, Recreational Lodging Units (RLUs) are available. These units are equipped with all the comforts of home. Reservations ARE recommended for these and may be made up to 90 days in advance.
The FamCamp office and Clubhouse features a spacious living room, fireplace, flat screen TV and computers with WIFI for all residents. A fully equipped coin operated laundry facility, restrooms and shower facilities, secured by cipher lock system, are close by. Combinations are available in the camp office or from the night hosts. These areas are well maintained and available to all campers. A dump station is located on the grounds for waste water disposal.
A convenience store is located just 1.5 miles from FamCamp. The store offers snack food, light toiletries and gasoline. The base commissary and exchange are located on the main base and are available to all military & dependent ID card holders. Please note that no diesel fuel is available on Barksdale AFB, however, diesel is available just outside the base’s east gate.
