The Shadow Mountain Branch Library offers various programs.
ONGOING CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
STORY-TIME (Ages 2-5)
Story-time is an interactive program combining books, songs, and movement. Children listen to stories read aloud, sing songs, practice counting and learning the alphabet, and participate in a craft or activity.
Mondays & Wednesdays: 1030-1100
Tuesdays: 1400-1430
FAMILY STORY TIME (All Ages)
2nd Sunday of the Month, 1400-1500
BILINGUAL STORY TIME (Ages 2-5)
3rd Wednesday of the Month, 1030-1100
READ & PLAY (Ages 0-2)
Read & Play includes song, stories, finger play, and other developmental activities designed especially for our youngest patrons.
Tuesdays: 1030-1100
MAKERSPACE FOR CHILDREN & TEENS
Makerspace projects specifically geared toward involving Children and Teens in a social session of mechanical and technical creativity. Space is limited to 10 attendees in each class. Please contact Shadow Mountain Branch library to register in advance.
Makerspace for Children every last Wednesday (grades 4-6) Makerspace for Teens every last Friday (grades 7-12)
CHECKING OUT MATERIALS
In order to open a new account, patrons must present a valid ID card and up-to-date contact information. Eligible patrons include, Active Duty Service Members stationed in 29 Palms, Dependent family members, Retirees or GS/NAF employees aboard the base.
Most items may be checked out from the library for three weeks at a time. Library collections include DVDs, video games, audiobooks, Playaway items, fiction, nonfiction, reference, young adult and children’s titles.
Interlibrary loans from other Marine Corps libraries are available upon request.

Come join the Shadow Mountain Branch Library throughout the summer for games, crafts, and all kinds of themed fun. Patrons of all ages can work towards age-appropriate reading goals all summer long. Log minutes online or in person at the Shadow Mountain Library.

Make & Take Craft Tuesdays - First Tuesday of the month (Registration is essential!)

UNITED THROUGH READING
Service members can stay connected with their families throughout a deployment. United Through reading allows service members who are about to deploy an opportunity to record themselves reading a story to a child in their life. This program is free of charge and is done in private at the service member’s convenience. Please call the Shadow Mountain Branch Library or stop by to set up an appointment
