The Family Advocacy Program (FAP) at 29 Palms assists commanders by providing prevention classes and briefs aimed at stress reduction and improved marital communications and parenting skills. When domestic or child abuse has already occurred, FAP is prepared to offer victim advocate services and interventions designed to provide support for victims of abuse, and reduce the risk for repeated incidents. Finally, in those cases where family abuse has taken place, the Family Advocacy Program offers classes in domestic violence and child abuse, to assist family in reducing risk for future abuse. The Family Advocacy Program’s domestic abuse groups also meet the civilian court requirements for those who are court-ordered to attend.
